Former President Barack Obama was so sure that he will get an invite from the Queen to attend the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Their royal wedding is scheduled to occur in May at Windsor Castle.
However, it seems that Obama is not on the list.
Allegedly, Barack Obama and Prince Harry are very good friends. He was hoping that he and former First Lady Michelle Obama will be called to attend the wedding. Instead, the Queen together with the British Foreign Office decided to advise Harry and Meghan to not make their wedding political.
I believe that this is a good move by the Queen. Calling Obama will make a diplomatic rift because President Donald Trump still hasn’t received an invitation to the wedding.
Several sources claim that probably Obama won’t see an invitation from the Buckingham Palace. The UK doesn’t want to ruin their connections with the United States. From the royal family, it is expected to keep a neutral position when it comes to politics. For example, at the wedding between William and Kate in 2011, there were no head-of-states invited.
One Foreign Office’s spokesman stated: “I suspect that will be the same blueprint that Meghan and Harry will use. ‘It’s all very carefully orchestrated to make sure that there’s no political overtones.”
When Harry was asked about Obama, he stated: “We haven’t put the invites or the guest list together yet, so who knows whether he’s going to be invited or not.”
We all know that Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle is always bashing President Trump, especially after he claimed victory in the presidential elections. She even announced that she would rather live in Canada instead of America if he enters the Oval Office.
However, for Trump, these matters are not that important. He has a lot of issues to worry about and most of them are from the previous administration led by Barack Obama. Instead of worrying about whether the royal family will invite him to the wedding, he decides to improve our country in every possible way.
